The Solution Overview

We believe the current board needs to take the boy scouts out of the past generation of how they used to do things and join us in 2020 where the organization can be a part of all communities. That includes being a welcoming home for minorities, children with disabilities, girls, and etc. It also means growing your knowledge on diversity, acceptance, and appreciation of different cultural aspects. With the client doing those things, it will allow children to participate as well as promote cultural diversity and inclusivity to ensure openness to other children’s differences. It will allow scouts the opportunity to learn lifelong lessons and change the acceptability norms of society for future generations.

The Value of the Solution

The value of any solution is that it will lead you to solving the problem.

  • There are multiple reasons that the council (as a whole) can benefit from this solution.

    • One benefit of this solution is that when you have an inclusive environment, the whole dynamic of the Pine Burr council can change.

    • Other benefits include a constant influx of scouts, peer learning, and potentially changing the definition of “normal”. Right at this moment, if people don’t see someone who looks like them they don’t go.
